Different types of water heaters

Water heaters are fast becoming a primary product targeted in sustainable energy usage plans. Recovery of energy expenditure with a water heater is one way to cut the expense of utilities upfront. We guide our customers in selection of one of the three (3) standard types of water heater according to construction and space:

1. Storage Water Heaters

The storage water heater class of residential water heating unit provides standard 2 1/2 gallon to 120 gallon capacity tank. Installation of storage water heaters must consider electric, liquid propane (lp) or natural gas connection.

The benefit of a storage water heater is that operating costs are less. Tank unit recovery is also faster so that sediment levels are overturned more often. Two anode rods increase the lifecycle of the tank. Filters tend to be more accessible. Low watt density of electric models are advised to curb costs.

2. Heat Pump Water Heaters

Heat pump water heaters hold 12 to 18 gallons of water hourly, heating to 130 degrees. The tank area surrounding the pump heater is conducted via automatic ventilation controls; in-taking hot air to heat the water in the tank. When cool air is released back into the room, heat pump water heaters generate renewable energy.

Sensor controlled heat pump water heaters offer automatic shut-down in response to room temperature. A normal setting is 60 degrees Fahrenheit for incoming water temperature, and 80 degrees Fahrenheit outgoing.

Electric power to the units is a standard 120 volts or 240 volts. Existing water heaters can be installed with a heat pump addition. The part is mounted on the unit.

3. Tankless Water Heaters

The concept of the tankless water heater is the on-demand solution to energy savings. The smaller tankless water heater models produce 1 to 4 gallons of hot water per minute. Larger tankless units are designed to control water heater controls for optimum sustainability and volume efficiency. Tankless water heaters are recommended for installation in apartment buildings and other larger residential environments. Tankless water heater units are powered by electric, liquid propane or natural gas.

The mark of a good water heater is lowered cost in monthly utility bills. The addition of updated parts or the decision to install an entirely new water heater can lead to a reduction in energy expenses up to 50% of those bills. Items to checklist when discussing the purchase and installation of a new water heater with a plumbing specialist, are energy maximizing instruments such as recirculation pumps.

Other issues to consider in selecting a water heater for installation are seasonal variability in the region where the residence or building is located. Request an audit of environmental risks that may impact the functioning and the efficiency of a water heater model.
