Tankless water heaters are a great option for people looking to save money and energy!

Who go tankless?

Tankless water heaters are a more energy efficient way of heating water. Traditional water heaters keep a large reservoir of water that stays hot at all times so that hot water is there when needed. Tankless water heaters are either electric or gas powered and do not have the reservoir as the traditional water heaters do. Some tankless water heaters that have a water pressure sensor; this sensor recognizes when you turn the hot water on. The cold water flows through a grid on the heater where it is heated up before it flows out of your tap. When you turn the hot water off, it turns off the heating element until you need it next time. Having a tankless water heater can save homeowners 20 to 30% in energy costs. With a traditional water heater it is running constantly so that it can keep your reservoir hot. Other than higher energy costs, another downfall with the traditional heater is if too much hot water is used, the hot water in the reservoir is empty. When a several people are showering, one after another, the last person showering risks running out of hot water in the middle of their shower.

Another benefit of installing a tankless water heater is the space issue. Traditional water heaters are very large, taking up space in a closet, basement, or garage. A tankless heater is much smaller. It is mounted right on the wall.

Before having us install a tankless water heater in your home, it is important to choose the type of system that you want. Tankless systems come in a single central system. This will completely replace your traditional water heater. You can also get a smaller unit that is installed where you need hot water the most like the washing machine or dishwasher. It is also important to keep in mind your family’s water usage. If typically you have a load of wash going, and someone is showering and then you decide to do dishes, you need a water heater that can meet your hot water demands. We can help you meet those demands.

Installation is not DIY!

When having your tankless water heater installed, be prepared to have your water supply to the house turned off. We will also turn the power or gas line off that is used to feed the heater. Once one of our technician turns that off we will mount the heater on the wall which is fairly simple. Next, we will connect the plumbing to the heater. Copper plumbing is the best bet due to the amount of heat the unit generates. After turning the water supply back on, our technician will check for new plumbing leaks. For gas and propane models, a combustion exhaust vent is attached to the exhaust port on the heater. Finally, we will attach power to the heater, restore the gas or electric supply, and turn on the heater. Once the unit is installed, all the homeowner needs to do is watch their energy bills go down.
