Questions You Should Ask A Plumber Before Hiring One

Indianapolis PlumberThe relationship you have with your plumber will influence everything that happens after it has begun. Knowing that you trust your plumber can go a long way towards ensuring that you are satisfied with the work they do and confident that you didn’t spend any more than you actually had to. There are a few ways to get closer to your plumber, in a professional capacity, and one of the most important ways is to simply ask questions. Being honest, direct, and straightforward are admirable traits in all walks of life and especially in business.

The first thing that you need to ask your plumber, before any money changes hands, is what they expect the issue to be. Some problems may be very minimal in the home and others may have larger issues below the surface. If your plumber knows what he is doing then he should be able to lay out exactly what he believes to be wrong, and how he is going to fix it.

The next thing you need to ask is: How much will this cost me, in both time and money? Plumbers work all of the time and, over that time, they have seen every sort of issue there is. If the problem you have is even remotely common to the plumber you are hiring than they should be able to give you a pretty good estimate on just how much time your job will take, and how much money it will cost to do it. Having these facts in your back pocket can make you feel much more relaxed when you see your plumber begin to take a hammer to your house and the plumbing inside of it.

The last thing to ask your plumber is: Is your work warrantied? Any reputable plumber should be more than willing to back their work up with a satisfaction guarantee. Most plumbers will have a policy in place that, within a certain amount of time, they will come back for free to re-check on their work if a problem isn’t fixed. This takes away a lot of anxiety.
